Ken Sim Nominated for A Better City in 2022 Vancouver Municipal Election

Vancouver, British Columbia – Ken Sim has been nominated the mayoral candidate for A Better City, Vancouver’s newest political movement, at a 400 person nomination dinner at Floata Restaurant in Chinatown.

In his acceptance speech, Mr. Sim outlined three core policies he wants to execute on in the 2022 municipal election:

Abolishing the elected Park Board and replacing it with an appointed board that answers to City Council – just like the Vancouver Library and Police Boards

• Focusing Vancouver planning going forward on achieving a 15 Minute City – with the goal of Vancouverites being able to access 90% of their lives within 15 minutes of their front door in every neighbourhood

• Increasing funding for community safety initiatives in order to combat rising street disorder and violent attacks occurring in many neighbourhoods across the city

Ken Sim committed A Better City to a six month policy consultation process, and a nomination process to recruit a full slate of candidates for Council, Park, and School Board that is planned to conclude in April 2022.
